Questions we hear from sellers and partners

What exactly does PLJN Capital do with the businesses it buys?

We acquire established SMEs with a solid trading record, then hold them for the long term. We keep the existing team, focus on steady operational improvement, and let the business carry on serving its customers.

Which kinds of companies are you looking to acquire?

We look at profitable UK-based SMEs with revenues between roughly £500k and £5m, usually in trades, services or light manufacturing. We are not interested in startups or pre-revenue ideas.

How long does a typical acquisition take from first chat to completion?

Most deals take between three and six months. That covers initial meetings, due diligence, and legal completion. We move as quickly as the seller is comfortable with and never rush the process.

Do you keep the existing staff and management after buying a business?

Yes, in almost every case. The people who built the business are the ones who know it best. We back the current team and only change things where there is a clear operational reason to do so.

What happens to my staff and customers if I sell to you?

Nothing changes on day one. Contracts, supplier terms and customer relationships stay as they are. We introduce ourselves gradually and keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

Can I stay involved in the business after the sale?

Many sellers stay on for a handover period of six to twelve months to help with introductions and continuity. After that, you are free to step back entirely. We agree the details upfront.
